SUPER-SKILLS CLINICS

TENTATIVE DATES FOR OUR FALL SUPER-SKILLS CLINICS: September 12 and 19.

At our "Super-Skills Clinics" we give the edge to every swimmer with a coach:swimmer ratio of 1:6-7. We know from coaching world class swimmers that when a good skill is ingrained it's with most swimmers their entire swimming career. Have you ever considered that each day you do a stroke or start or turn incorrectly that it becomes a more entrenched habit that will need to eventually be broken and relearned to meet one's potential? At the "Super-Skills Clinics" we will always spend some time on a particular stroke and it's proper technique, but we will especially focus on helping you learn a skill in 'world class style.'

After we spend about 25 minutes on stroke technique, then we will focus about 90 minutes of each session breaking bad habits and learning starts and turns as proficiently as possible. Coach Warner takes the view of what type of start or turn or underwater propulsion an Olympic champion has and then works backwards to bring the young swimmer as close to the model as possible in the period of time given. A good example is backstroke start and underwater dolphin kick. For years his swimmers owned all the women's records in the short fly and backstroke events in the Big East Conference. This is due in large part to the development of starting and underwater dolphin kicking techniques.

Staff will used video replay as much as it is practical to assist our swimmers to learn. With a multitude of feedback (both video and verbal) in the next 90 minutes or so each swimmer is brought to the best level they can possibly get to.

The last 10 minutes of each clinic will be focused on learning how to think like a champion. The focus will be primarily on visual imagery and how to continue the learning process of the Super-Skill at your home practice site.

These clinics are restricted in size and have approximately a 1:6 coach to athlete ratio. They are priced at $100 per clinic or a reduced bundle rate of twoi for $185.
